On July 21, 2004, the world witnessed Burt Rutan and his team successfully launched
Mike Melvill onboard SpaceShipOne at an altitude of 328,000 feet paving the road
for space tourism.
The following year, Richard Branson and Burt Rutan announce to the world their
intentions to commence an affordable space program to form Spaceship Company.
Five spacecrafts and two motherships are currently under construction. The new
spacecraft named SpaceShipTwo will carry six astronaut passengers and two pilots
into sub orbit above the Californian desert. SpaceShipTwo is currently under
the final stage of production and should be soon unveiled to the world with flight
tests likely to start in 2007.
I had the pleasure to be invited by Brian Binnie, SpaceShipOne astronaut,
after his successful flight. Please read my first diary entry on my experience
to fly SpaceShipOne simulator. What a thrill!
